Dr. Ken Pruitt serves as President of The John Leland Center for Theological Studies. He entered this position from a full-time pastorate in Virginia Beach. He also served as a member of the Board of Trustees and an adjunct professor prior to being named as President. Prior to Leland, Dr. Pruitt served in full time pastoral ministry for over 30 years. He has experienced fruitful pastoral ministries in South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Dr. Pruitt earned his Doctor of Ministry (D. His M.Div. with Biblical Languages was earned at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas. Dr. Pruitt is married to his high school sweetheart Terry, and they have three beautiful daughters, Nichole (26), Bethany (23), and Sarah Joy (11). Each daughter is adopted, and each adoption expresses a unique story of God’s grace and love for a broken and hurting world. Dr. Pruitt is originally from South Carolina (Anderson Country) where his father served faithfully as a pastor for many years. At age 17, Dr. Pruitt sensed a calling into full-time Christian ministry, and served for many years as student pastor and associate pastor prior to his call as senior pastor. Dr. Pruitt's passion, second to following Jesus and prioritizing His family, is training and mentoring the called.
