About:
Darrell Macklin has been serving as Senior Pastor of the Saint Paul Baptist Church, Washington D.C. for thirty-three years. Darrell grew up and was educated here in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Darrell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to ministry, Darrell was employed at AT&T Communications as a manager of information systems. Sensing the call of the Lord to full-time ministry, he left the corporate world to pursue the life and vocation of shepherding God’s people.
Shaped by an understanding of the transformative power of the Gospel, Darrell’s passion in ministry is focused on equipping disciples who are engaged in living out the kingdom principles and priorities of Jesus Christ. Darrell has led and engaged the church in numerous community-based efforts including those whose mission is to deliver housing, public safety, youth development, economic development, and social justice in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and in several targeted urban areas around the country. Also, he has forged local partnerships with government and non-profit organizations in the delivery of social services including substance abuse, child and family services and mental health. Darrell has led and participated in global missions in Liberia, West Africa and New Delhi, India. There he has been involved in training seminary students, mentoring pastors, developing church leaders, supporting orphanages, lecturing, and preaching.
Darrell especially enjoys spending time with family. He has recently discovered the special joy in having grandchildren.
