School of Ministry
The School of Ministry houses the undergraduate and nontraditional educational programs of the John Leland Center. The programs offered are both for academic credit and for personal discipleship and service preparation.
The flagship program in the School of Ministry is the Diploma in Theological Studies. This program of study is for students seeking to gain knowledge and practical skills for ministry and is for both laity and ministry candidates who have completed at least a high school degree or GED.* The classes are offered for academic credit at the undergraduate or baccalaureate level. However, many of our students audit and the classes are open to those who may already have an undergraduate degree.
This program may be ideal for you if:
You are looking to prepare yourself biblically and theologically for ministry.
You are looking to take the first step in preparing yourself educationally for full-time vocational ministry.
You are interested in developing your understanding of the teaching and doctrine of the Christian church.
Wish to take theology courses for credits that will transfer to an accredited college should you wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
*If for some reason you have not been able to complete a high school diploma or GED, but are interested in this program please contact John McNeill at jmcneill@leland.edu to discuss your situation.
