October 1, a good work in you

Truths from Philippians, Chapter 1 that will encourage you today:

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” (Philippians 1:3-5)

Take time to recognize how God is fulfilling His perfect will in the life of another.  And, take a moment to encourage that person.  There is no doubt that your words of encouragement will be both timely and deeply necessary.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)

God does not begin a work at random.  That which He has begun in your life will in no way be left incomplete.  He will perfect His work in you.  Today, do not be discouraged, child of God.  He is definitely at work in you.

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.” (Philippians 1:9-10)

Today, walk fervently in Christian love – loving God and loving others well.  Allow the truth and insight God blesses you with through His Word to guide you as you look for what is excellent and pleasing in God’s sight.

“Filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:11)

Realize that the greatest measure of effectiveness in our work for the Lord is not actually something of our basic labor or humanly created energy, but of the Spirit’s Work within us.  We labor fervently, but not as one who produces good things of our own accord.  We labor as one who walks in harmony with the Holy Spirit.  The fruit of righteousness that can only come from Jesus becomes manifested in us and unto God for His glorious praise.

The common theme in the reflections of the above truths centers on God’s undeniable work within the lives of His children.  Through His Holy Spirit and your relationship with Jesus, God is active in you.  He is performing His perfect pleasure.  You may not see the fullness of His work, and you may not always understand how He is accomplishing His desired end, but I assure you He is at work for His glorious purposes within you at this very moment.  So, take heart.  Be encouraged.  And, encourage others around you.  We are indeed blessed.

Today, “grace and peace to you from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:2).

Blessings.
