About:
Trisha Miller Manarin was born in Philadelphia and spent most of her growing up in Allentown, PA. Experiencing a call to ministry at 13 years old, Trisha found herself serving in a variety of ministry settings early in her life. While receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in performance and education, she had life-changing experiences both through her college church home, South Elyton Baptist church where both her SS teacher and her pastor had been hosed down and attacked by dogs in Birmingham during the Civil Rights Movement, and her overseas summer mission experiences in Zambia and Macua. In the middle of her MDiv, Trisha returned to Zambia to serve as a Journeyman Missionary of the then Foreign Mission Board of the SBC. During a retreat, she met her future husband, Tim. Trisha was ordained by Trinity Baptist Church (SBC) in Philadelphia, during a time when women, especially in the south, were being denied ordination. After seminary, the couple moved to Indiana where Tim pursued his PhD in African History and Trisha began serving a United Methodist Church. During this time, their sons, Peter and Nathaniel, were born. Upon moving back to the East Coast, she was called to McLean Baptist Church and served there for several years, along with serving FBC of Herndon, VA. During this time, the Manarin's' third child, a daughter, Maggie, was born. For two years, the family of five lived in Kampala, Uganda where Trisha ministered to refugees and children unjustly imprisoned. The family also helped to start a church in their neighborhood. Upon returning to the USA, she returned to local church ministry and then began ministering as the Executive Coordinator with Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Coordinator for the Division on Mission, Evangelism, and Justice with the Baptist World Alliance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Miller Manarin joined the DC Baptist Convention as the Executive Director/Minister. She enjoys cooking, exploring and camping when her schedule allows. She also loves meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Her nuclear and extended family is a great source of joy!
